The Route 66 Cuervo Cutoff has been abandoned since the 30's when the route into Santa Rosa was straightened. This alignment cut
south and then turned west to enter town near the Blue Hole. This part of the old Route is just up the hill from the ruins of Cuervo
and is in pretty good shape considering that it has been abandoned for 70+ years. A lot of the original blacktop is still
present and the vegitation hasn't encroached into the road bed. ('07)
